Ellen Francis Poisson, OSH and dedicated in early 2008. The icon may be seen on the Episcopal Church and Visual Arts website at

http://www.episcopalchurch.org/68518_88725_ENG_HTM.htm

I'm biased of course, but I think Florence is best experienced in person, in the splendor of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, by visiting General. We would be glad to welcome you.bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05148127381872376358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1746683755067841448.post-85495364099048701362008-06-21T09:47:00.000-07:002008-06-21T09:47:00.000-07:00Bob,Thank you for the feedback. Is there any way of viewing the St Florence icon, short of a trip to NYC?

St Blandina is new to me; I appreciate you sharing this information and will certainly become familiar with her life.Web Scribehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08555991664318191365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1746683755067841448.post-68153699516347174092008-06-20T18:23:00.000-07:002008-06-20T18:23:00.000-07:00I enjoyed your entry on "St. Florence," and happil...I enjoyed your entry on "St. Florence," and happily join your call that we uphold Christ as the highest and best commonality for bonding us all in the Church.

General Theological Seminary, where I am now preparing for Holy Orders, dedicated an icon to Florence in our Chapel of the Good Shepherd this spring.

The ceremony was hosted by the Society of St. Blandina, a student group at General that upholds women in the priesthood.

You may already be familiar with Blandina. Among the Martyrs of Lyons, Blandina stands out as one of the earliest women in whom the image of Christ was recognized. This recognizable image of Christ in Blandina makes her an important link from the early Church to women as priests today. She is remembered in the US Episcopal Church calendar on June 2.bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05148127381872376358noreply@blogger.com
